The World of Gimbutis

Nature is a brilliant designer that creates perfect combinations of lines, forms and colours. This is why nature inspired Gimbutis Geneva. One of nature's most exceptionally interesting products is the pine cone. The at first seemingly chaotic natural object actually has a harmonious and precise design. Leonardo da Vinci discovered that the Fibonacci Sequence (in which the first number is 0, the second is 1, and all subsequent numbers equal the sum of the two preceding numbers) can be found throughout nature, and every spiral, pirouette or similar form can be described mathematically.

The World of Gimbutis

The geometrically and mathematically perfect work of natural art known as the pine cone consists of a primary core and scales that cover and are attached to it. Young pine cones are usually green, but they grow brown as they mature and their core and seed scales grow wood-like and spread apart. Some plants' pine cones fall apart, leaving just the core. Such natural forms and their movements can strongly inspire jewellers, which is why this perfect natural work is the primary design idea and source of inspiration for Gimbutis Geneva. Different variations on pine cones are used for rings, bracelets, pendants and necklaces. Gimbutis' designers also used subtle pine cone motifs to create a golden rosary. In men's cuff links, however, more playful motifs are used as well – horses, footballs, knights, aircraft and crowns. The stylised pine cone scale graphic image is patented by Gimbutis and is used as the brand logo for the boutique's interiors, displays and jewellery packaging.

The World of Gimbutis

Gimbutis' jewellery pieces are born in workshops in Geneva, France and Italy. The 100% hand-made pieces are created by craftsmen with 20-30 years of experience. The pieces undergo a careful quality control process and all of the gemstones used have Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF) certificates, diamonds Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

The primary materials used by Gimbutis Geneva are red and white gold, while the Red Carpet-class rings are made with platinum and are decorated with 5-6ct diamonds. One of the unique characteristics of Gimbutis Geneva jewellery is the subtle combination of Afghan emeralds and diamonds.
